Conscious Touch in Psychedelic-Assisted Sessions

This experiential training is designed for psychedelic guides, ministers, therapists, and healing practitioners who want to learn how to incorporate conscious, attuned touch into psychedelic-assisted and other deeply experiential healing sessions.

Combining online learning with an intensive in-person experience, the training offers a strong foundation in somatic awareness, attachment, relational attunement, and the skillful use of touch.

Why Touch Matters in Psychedelic-Assisted Work

Touch can open a door to unconscious patterns held in the body. Through attuned touch, clients may come into direct contact with early attachment experiences, trauma responses, and wounded or protective parts.

Psychedelic and expanded states can open that door further. Past experiences may arise not only as memories or emotions, but as sensations, impulses, movements, contraction, and longing.

In this space, touch can become a powerful form of support and relational healing. It can create a felt sense of connection and offer grounding, reassurance and containment.

The online module introduces the foundations of embodied presence and teaches participants how to use attachment-based somatic interventions, including the ethical use of touch.

Participants learn to recognize how attachment patterns show up in the body and in the therapeutic relationship, and how somatic and relational interventions can support new experiences of safety, connection, and growth in both counseling and expanded-state sessions.

In-Person Intensive

February 18–22, 2027

9:30 am-5 pm PT, Berkeley, California

The five-day intensive builds on the online module and brings the work into direct, supervised practice, with a particular focus on using touch in sessions.

Participants learn how to apply different forms of touch in service of regulation, attachment repair, and personal growth. They practice moving from specific touch-based interventions into guiding a fuller process.

Participants engage with the work from multiple perspectives: as practitioner, client, and observer.

For Congregation for Sacred Practices Ministers and Ministers-In-Training, this course will meet the 4-unit bodywork/energywork elective requirement.

The InterSoma Approach

InterSoma is a somatic, attachment-based approach that integrates conscious attuned touch, attachment, relational mindfulness, trauma theory, and interpersonal neurobiology.

In InterSoma, touch is not a technique applied to a client. It is an attuned relational conversation. The practitioner listens closely to the client’s body, emotions, boundaries, and moment-to-moment experience, and responds with touch and other experiential interventions to provide a supportive, healing experience that meets vulnerable parts of the client with the safety, attunement, and care they may have been missing.

Tuition: 3000 USD

Jasmine Flanigan, MFT

Jasmine Flanigan is a co-founder and lead teacher of InterSoma, a licensed psychotherapist, and clinical supervisor — as well as a mother of three, partner, dancer, meditator, and lover of life.

She began her career as an integrative bodyworker, a practice she devoted eighteen years to before pursuing a Master's degree at CIIS in Integrative Counseling Psychology. Her ongoing study of AEDP, EMDR, IFS, the Ideal Parent Protocol, Hakomi, and the Tamura Method shapes her loving approach: helping people meet the parts of themselves they most fear with tenderness, so old defenses can soften, and a truer, freer Self can emerge.

With InterSoma, she has found a home for everything she's studied, a practice devoted to embodied relational healing and human flourishing. As a teacher, she tries to lead with a loving, open heart, offering the wisdom gathered from all of that study and experience in service of others, grateful for every teacher, client, and student who shaped her along the way.

Gal Szekely, MFT

Gal is a co-founder of InterSoma and a lead teacher. He is a licensed psychotherapist who has spent over two decades helping individuals, couples, and therapists deepen healing and connect to their wholeness through mindfulness, somatic awareness, attachment work, and embodied relationship.

Gal is also the founder of The Couples Center and the creator of Love Made Simple, a practical and experiential approach to helping couples create deeper connection, repair, and intimacy. He has trained and supervised therapists for many years and is a teacher in the Hakomi method and a former adjunct faculty at CIIS University. Gal’s teaching and therapeutic work brings together depth, intellectual clarity, relational warmth, and practical guidance.

Matthias Geiger

For the past 14 years, Matthias has been weaving together Western psychology and earth based spirituality in his private somatic counseling practice. He guides clients into expanded states of consciousness, and has offered multiple trainings for guides. At the heart of his work is fostering deep, loving connection, to self and to others.
